George Shearer

I have been into photography for over 40 years beginning with black and white and advancing to color with film negatives and slide  film.  I've photographed just about anything and everything from scenics to people subjects.  I started to do odd jobs for friends' 'weddings, sport teams, parties and even a bar mistma celebration.  I self-taught myself by reading all the photo magazines and books I could get ahold of.  I studied all the great photographers' style and learned a lot from them.  I' m now retired and only do personal photography on the many trips my wife and I take throughout the years visiting places as New England area, Nova Scotia, Niagara Falls, Alaska,  Bermuda, Bahamas, Cancun, Florida,  West Point, and too numerous national and state parks all around the Mid-Atlantic areas.

Up to five years ago I printed most of my pictures myself in a darkroom I created in our basement. I had wet and dry areas to process my prints. I started with a durst m-600 enlarger and Beseler chemicals and a few 8x10 drums. I then purchased a Vivitar V-7 enlarger with a built-in color-head with dial-in settings from 0-200 making color corrections much easier in printing. I thought i would always shoot film but after my first digital camera I found it was much easier to handle my pictures in my computer than in my darkroom ever was. I still enjoy taking pictures and hope to continue doing so for a long time to come. I do miss doing the many weddings I did in the past along with the sports pictures I took and all the nice people I met along the way.
